Everything You Need to Know About TDS-11 Top Drive

Top drives provide torque by moving clockwise to drill boreholes for oil or natural gas drilling. Their mechanical drive is an alternative to rotary table drives, and they work to move a derrick vertically. Henderson Rigs offers a great selection of top drives for sale, including used electric or hydraulic top drives that can be fitted to most drilling rigs. When choosing a top drive, make sure that it will increase rig safety and performance, and go for highly rated equipment like the TDS 11. Henderson Rigs & Equipment carries the TDS 11 top drive, which is developed specifically for permanent and portable drilling rigs. It is essential for this type of equipment to be able to withstand being suspended from the rig’s derrick, and to swivel powerfully to generate at least 1,000 horsepower to turn the shaft.

The TDS-11 top drive is considered as one of the most efficient top drives preferred by leaders of the drilling industry for its reliable performance. It comes with a 7,500-psi wash pipe assembly and features like two forced air cooled 400HP AC drilling motors (totaling to 800HP), a quiet gear drive, 10.5:1 double reduction, powered rotating head, hydraulic disc brakes, a counterbalance with stand jump, and a bail. Its on-board pipe handler comes with a 500-ton rated solid body elevator (link adapter assembly), a remotely operated dual crank upper body IBOP safety valve, lower gripping jaw (for torque backup), hydraulic link tilt assembly, and a manual 15000 psi lower IBOP safety valve.

Henderson Rigs & Equipment provides an NC50 too joint for the pipe handler of the TDS-11 top drive. If you need other tool joints, feel free to discuss your needs with Henderson Rigs & Equipment so they can provide a quote. The PH-75 is one of the recommended tools for mechanized break-out of upper and lower IBOP valves and the heavy-duty rotating head motor to ensure consistent operation. It works with tool joints with an OD of 8.5 inches.

Know About Drawworks For Sale And Its Various Parts

A draw-works (sometimes spelled drawworks) refers to a type of hoisting machinery. It is one of the components of a typical rotary drilling rig, and its main function is to allow the traveling blocks to be raised and lowered. The drawworks usually has a pulley drive on the front side to give the rotary table turning power, although on some rigs, the rotary table may be independently powered.

Drawworks are widely used to lower or hoist hundreds of thousands of pounds of weight. There is a wide range of horsepower ratings for drawworks—anywhere from 1000 HP to well over 3000 HP.
A modern drawworks has of five parts: the drum, the reduction gear, the motor(s), the brake, plus the auxiliary brake. Some drawworks are connected by metal belts directly to diesel engines while others have AC or DC motors. The number of gears very; it could anywhere from one to three speed combinations. There are also different types of main brakes—including friction band brake, modified clutch, or disc brake—and they are usually manually operated via a long handle. The main brake acts as the parking brake when motion is not desired. The auxiliary brake, which connects to the drum, absorbs the energy that is released when heavy loads are lowered. The auxiliary brake use either water-turbine-like apparatuses or eddy current rotors to convert the kinetic energy produced by a stopping a downward-moving load to heat.

If you need drawworks for sale, don’t hesitate to contact us at Henderson Rigs & Equipment. We specialize in the brokerage and sales of capital drilling equipment and drilling rigs. We maintain a comprehensive inventory of equipment—new, used, or refurbished. Trusted by  drilling contractors from around the world, Henderson can also help you sell your drilling rigs, drawworks, and other equipment on consignment.
